I love sharks. There are no ifs, ands or buts about it. I have Discovery’s Shark Week on DVD, shark slippers, and I spent last summer doing shark dives off the coast of Hawaii in nothing but a wire cage. So imagine my excitement when I heard about a Jaws-themed restaurant in Michigan.

Jaws Jumbo Burgers is a (you guessed it) burger joint in Farmington Hills, MI. It has a 50’s malt shop feel combined with a movie theater setting. Its website describes it as being a “theme park experience” minus the rides. But who needs rides when there are 5-50” plasma screen TV’s playing some of the best movies ever filmed ALL DAY?

As you might’ve guessed, Jaws Jumbo Burgers is a tribute restaurant to Steven Spielberg’s infamous shark flick, Jaws. For the noobs out there, Jaws is an American thriller from 1975 about shark attacks taking place in the fictional town of Amity Island.

Jaws Jumbo Burgers is a moderately-sized restaurant with 45 seats available. The walls are decorated with Jaws movie posters as well as cast and crew shots. Along with the shark memorabilia is a 185-gallon shark/fish aquarium with live sharks, fish and coral. Now, are you ready for the best part? The plasma TV’s play Jaws, Jurassic Park, Spiderman, Men-In-Black and Terminator all day on repeat. I couldn’t have chosen a better line-up myself.

While enjoying the Jaws-themed décor and the movie-of-the-moment, Jaws Jumbo Burgers has a menu that is sure to appeal to just about anyone. The burgers are huge, the milkshakes are thick and delicious, and the seafood completes the overall nautical feel. Make sure you try the “Thank You Jay Leno” burger and the “We Miss You Conan O’Brien” burger. Yes, those are their real names.

The restaurant really focuses on the fact that the food is fresh. There are no microwaves and no heat lamps. The food is always guaranteed fresh and delicious, and from my experience, that’s exactly what is served. This stuff is good enough to maul…get it? Maul? Shark? Eh? EH?

Whether you’re a film buff, shark enthusiast, or food connoisseur, Jaws Jumbo Burgers has something for you. Check the place out Monday-Saturday from 11am-10pm.
